FAQ
Short answers to common questions.
General
What does it cost to trade?
2% per trade on the curve, through woop. From another app, the same trade costs 3%, plus that app's fee. Exit Queue fills cost 1% a side. After graduation, trades happen in the coin's Raydium pool: a 1% pool fee plus a 0.25% creator fee, from any app. Solana network costs are extra. See Fees.
Why is it cheaper on woop?
Each new coin charges a higher fee on the curve, and trades through woop get 1.25% of it back in the same transaction. So you pay 2% on woop and 3% anywhere else. See Fees for traders.
What does it cost to launch?
Nothing from woop. About 0.03 SOL of network costs. Using a ticker another coin already has costs 1 SOL, paid to that coin's holders.
What is a pair?
The quote token a coin trades against, like SOL, a tokenized stock or a dollar. Holders are paid in it. See Pairs.
Do I need the pair token to buy?
No. You can pay with SOL on any pair. On other pairs woop swaps your SOL into the pair token in the same transaction. You can also pay with the pair token if you hold it. See Buying a coin.
Is woop on mainnet?
Our programs run on devnet today. Mainnet program addresses are published at launch. See Programs and addresses.
Holding
How do holders get paid?
0.45% of every curve trade through woop (0.70% with no promoter), 1.35% of curve trades from other apps, and 50% of the coin's pool-fee share after graduation go to holders. Your share depends on how much you hold and for how long. See Hold-to-earn.
What happens if I sell?
Any drop in your balance resets your time held for that period. What you already earned stays yours.
Do unclaimed earnings expire?
No. They add up until you claim.
Creating
What does a creator earn?
0.75% of every curve trade through woop and 0.5% of curve trades from other apps, then 20% of the coin's 0.84% pool-fee share, forever. See Creator fees.
Can a fair launch have a creator lock?
Yes, with the same limits as an instant launch. You set it when you open the fair launch, and the fair launch page shows it to everyone. See Fair launch.
Can I change the pair later?
No. The pair is set at launch.
Promoting
How much does a promoter earn?
0.25% of every trade their link brings in. See Share links.
Is there a promoter leaderboard?
Yes. The leaderboard ranks promoters for each pair by what their links earned. See Leaderboard.
What happens to the share fee with no promoter?
It goes to the coin's treasury, for holders. The trader pays 2% either way.
Do I earn on trades made from other apps?
No. Only trades through woop pay the share fee, so share your woop link.
Trading
What's a Fair Block?
Your order waits about 3 seconds with everyone else's, then they all settle together at one price. Buys and sells are matched with each other, and only the leftover touches the curve. See Fair Blocks.
Should I use Fair Block or Instant?
Fair Block for most trades. Instant when you want it filled this second, or to grab a holder deal.
How do I sell a big bag without crashing the price?
Use the Exit Queue: pick Sell, then Exit Queue. Your coins fill into buys at the current price, never below your floor. See Exit Queue.
Do Fair Blocks and the Exit Queue work after graduation?
Yes. They match and fill at the coin's Raydium pool price, and cost what the pool does: 1.25% a side.
What do I get for holding $WOOP?
A share of woop's buyback, paid like any coin's holder fees. Hold 100,000 for an hour and you also get half fees on Fair Blocks and the Exit Queue, first go at new queue orders, kept block slots and a stake in every coin. See The $WOOP token.
What's a holder deal?
When a big order joins the Exit Queue, loyal holders get the first minute to buy it at 2% off. See Holder deals.
How does a fair launch work?
Everyone commits SOL during a window, then it all buys in one go at one price. Any unused SOL comes back at once. Coins unlock second by second over the release the creator picked (10 to 60 minutes), so nobody can dump their whole share at the open, and arrive automatically. See Fair launches.
Can people in a fair launch sell on each other?
Not all at once. Everyone's coins unlock at the same steady pace over the release, so nobody can sell their whole share the moment it opens. Coins still unlocking keep earning from holding.
