Ticker protection
The first coin with a ticker owns it. Copycats pay its holders 1 SOL.
The idea
When a coin takes off, copycats launch coins with the same ticker to catch confused buyers.
On woop, the first coin with a ticker owns it. Anyone can still use that ticker, but it costs 1 SOL, and that 1 SOL goes to the holders of the first coin.
| What | Detail |
|---|---|
| Fee to use a taken ticker | 1 SOL |
| Goes to | the first coin's holders, paid out like any other rewards |
| Tickers | 2–10 capital letters or numbers, so moon can't dodge MOON |
What it means for you
- Your ticker is yours. Launch first and every copycat pays your holders.
- Picking a ticker? The launch form tells you if it's taken and by which coin, before you pay anything.
- Fair launches pay the fee when they open, if the ticker is taken. A fair launch only claims a free ticker once it actually goes live, so nobody can hold one with a sale that never opens.
The rule is enforced by our program on-chain. Nobody, us included, can launch a taken ticker without paying.
