Fair launch
Open your coin with a window where everyone commits, then one buy at one price. No snipers.
When a coin goes live the normal way, bots buy in the very first block. Your real community buys after them, at a higher price, and the bots sell into it.
A fair launch gives your community the first block instead.
How it works
- Choose Fair launch. In the launch form's Extras step, under How it opens, pick Fair launch, a window (1, 5, 15 or 60 minutes) and a release (10, 15, 30 or 60 minutes, 10 by default). You can add a creator lock here too.
- Open the sale. Review and confirm. You leave 0.06 SOL with the sale for the launch's network costs; what isn't used comes back to you. The app takes you to your sale's page.
- Share it. During the window, anyone can commit SOL from that page, you included. Your coin can't be bought or traded yet: it doesn't exist until the window ends.
- It opens. When the window ends, our program creates your coin and makes one opening buy with everything committed. Everyone gets coins at the same price, in proportion to what they put in, unlocking over the release.
- It trades. From there your coin trades on its curve like any other, and you earn creator fees on every trade.
Why use it
- No snipers. There's no first block to buy, because the coin doesn't exist until everyone is in.
- A fair start for your holders. Everyone who showed up in the window paid the same price, so nobody starts the coin sitting on a free profit.
- A strong open. All the window's buying lands as one opening buy, so your coin starts trading with real holders behind it.
Choosing a release
After the open, everyone's coins unlock second by second over the release, so nobody can sell their whole share at once and the chart doesn't take a dump in its first minute.
| Release | Good for |
|---|---|
| 10 minutes | most launches (the default) |
| 15 minutes | a bit more time for new buyers to arrive |
| 30 minutes | a bigger launch with a lot committed |
| 1 hour | the most protection against an early dump |
The release only applies to what was committed in the window. Anyone who buys after the open trades normally.
Choosing a window
| Window | Good for |
|---|---|
| 1 minute | a community that's already waiting |
| 5 minutes | a typical launch you've announced |
| 15 minutes | giving people time to find the link |
| 60 minutes | a big launch, across time zones |
What's different from an instant launch
- No first buy. If you want coins, commit in the window like everyone else, at the same price.
- The opening buy is capped at 80% of what the coin needs to graduate, so it can't graduate in one go. If more is committed, everyone's unused share comes back to them.
- Coins and refunds are delivered automatically to every wallet that committed: refunds at once, coins over the release.
Creator lock
A fair launch can have a creator lock, with the same limits as an instant launch: up to 30% of the supply, a cliff of up to a year, then unlocking evenly over 1 day to 4 years, starting from graduation.
- You set it when you open the fair launch. It can't be changed after that.
- It's yours when the window closes and the coin launches.
- It comes out of what the curve sells. Raydium holds the locked coins.
- Everyone sees it. The fair launch page shows the lock, so people know before they commit.
Costs
| Cost | |
|---|---|
| woop launch fee | free |
| Held for the launch | 0.06 SOL, the unused part comes back |
| Network costs | about 0.04 SOL in total |
| The opening buy | 2%, the same as any trade through woop, paid from what was committed |
If your ticker already belongs to another coin, the 1 SOL ticker fee is paid when you open the sale.
