How a coin works
Launch, curve, graduation, then fees forever.
Every coin on woop goes through the same four stages.
- Launch
- Curve
- Graduation
- Pool
Pick a name, ticker, image and pair. Launching is free apart from network costs.
Launch
The creator picks a name, ticker, image and pair. Launching is free, apart from about 0.03 SOL of network costs.
The pair is the quote token the coin trades against. Holders are paid in it. See Pairs.
A coin opens one of two ways:
- Instantly. It goes live on its curve straight away. The creator can make the first buy.
- Fair launch. For 1 to 60 minutes anyone can commit SOL, then everything buys in one opening buy, at one price for everyone. The creator can add a creator lock. See Fair launches.
Curve
People buy and sell on a bonding curve. Buys push the price up. Sells push it down.
Every trade through woop pays a flat 2%. Holders get 0.45% of it, or 0.70% when no promoter brought the trade. The same trade from another app pays 3%, with 1.35% to holders.
Trades go into a Fair Block by default: orders collect for about 3 seconds, buys and sells are matched at one price, and only the leftover touches the curve. Big sellers can use the Exit Queue instead of dumping, and loyal holders get first go at those coins.
Graduation
When the curve fills, Raydium moves the coin into a permanent pool. This happens on its own. Nobody has to press anything.
The pool's liquidity is locked. Trading carries on in the pool.
Fees, forever
Every trade pays fees, before and after graduation. They go to holders, the creator, promoters and woop.
| Stage | Fee per trade | Holders get |
|---|---|---|
| Curve, through woop | 2% | 0.45%, or 0.70% with no promoter |
| Curve, from other apps | 3% | 1.35% |
| Pool, from any app | 1% pool fee + 0.25% creator fee | 50% of the coin's 0.84% share |
The full breakdown is on Fees.
